What a fab weekend. Our foilfest event went off with and bang…literally.
We had nearly 40 people on the start line for the afternoon’s one hour classic marathon race. In perfect 18-20kt breeze and blazing sunshine, we even had one winger racing in boardies!!!

 

 

After 4 successful years of WingFest, we asked ourselves; how can we make this even more inclusive, even more adaptable to UK weather and even more fun than previous years?
The answer? FOILFEST
The outcome?  A community full of smiles at the end of an epic day and weekend of feel good foiling (and flamingo) based fun!

We had a plan for 3 competition formats to cover all wind/weather possibilities, and were presented with a forecast that accommodated everything in one day!

Wall to wall sunshine all weekend gave us a perfect platform to provide some pump foil and foil assist competitions in the morning and over lunchtime Saturday.
As predicted in the afternoon the wind increased and gave us premium conditions for the one hour classic wing/parawing foil racing between 14.30 and 15.30.

This new marathon style format not only opens up the racing to a much bigger range of abilities but also takes the pressure away from those who have perhaps in previous years been intimidated by the more formal racing formats

All the on water action was followed by a lovely social Sat evening, the BBQ was on and there was a great post race vibe.

We also had on water wingtro tasters running all day on the harbour side and demos from all the amazing and supportive Brands: Axis, Ozone, Cabrinha, Duotone, ION, Foildrive, F-One, Manera, Slingshot.
Along with fantastic prizes from Goodr, YETI, Surflogic and Lifejacket.

Sunday we continued with some foil assist clinics and demo’s this was hugely popular and full all day! (The lithium revolution is here!)

" To have such a spread of ages and abilities on the course racing was fantastic to see from Young Hugo and Oscar who are international competitive riders, to Alastair a wonderful human just learning his first turns…..EVERYONE was smiling and enjoying it together. Bring on next year and ladies come get involved as there wasn’t enough of you this year "
