SUP Instructor Training

BSUPA Level 1 Instructor Training Course (ITC)

  • 2 Days £250

This 2 Day instructor course is based around the BSUPA ‘Ready to Ride’ scheme.  Candidates will learn the full syllabus to teach students all about the basics of Stand Up Paddleboarding and further knowledge of different turns & paddle techniques.

Course candidates will then also expand their knowledge of tides and weather, group control and safety on the water, different kit and its suitability when teaching.
The course is aimed at and available to those who;

  • Have a valid BSUPA membership
  • Have proficient personal SUP skills including; being competent on a range of boards, capable in varying conditions (breeze and tidal flow), able to demonstrate step-back and reverse paddle turns, board 360’s, body 360’s, basic short paddle strokes and paddle steering
  • Valid First Aid certification
  • Over 14yrs of age
  • Pre-course lesson shadowing if no prior watersports teaching experience

BSUPA Level 2 ITC

  • 2 Days £250

A BSUPA Level 2 qualification is required to run a BSUPA SUP school or to teach students to a higher level in your discipline of expertise (Race or Surf) or to run tours.
The course is both practical and theoretical, looking at management of a BSUPA School and documents SOP, EAP, AALS, Risk Assessments, safety management, safety planning as well as the specific equipment, conditions and technique needed to deliver the Level 2 courses.  There are then assessed practical sessions along with a paddle test, an exam and candidate delivered talks and coaching sessions to complete the course.

Requirements for the course;

  • BSUPA Level 1 qualification with 100hrs teaching in a BSUPA school
  • Teaching and SUP in experience in a range of locations
  • Valid BSUPA membership
  • Powerboat Level 2
  • Valid First Aid certification
  • Competent paddle skills in either racing, touring or surf
